VOLUNTEER WITH US

We encourage you to explore the volunteer opportunities below. Each opportunity offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact, whether you're passionate about helping others in their grief journey, cooking meals for families, or helping maintain a garden. Your time and skills can make a lasting impact!

  • Through our facilitator training you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to lead small groups of hurting hearts towards hope and healing. You will directly interact with program participants as they process their grief. Strong bonds are formed as participants share a piece of their story within their support group. Serving as a Volunteer Facilitator in one of our Programs will also profoundly touch your own life.

All volunteer facilitators at the The Hope & Healing Place receive 20+ hours of training prior to being assigned to facilitate a program. The training curriculum covers general information about grief, support group leadership, our grief model and much more. Training is held one weekend in August and January. Additional training is ongoing through articles, small group discussions, and other various platforms. New facilitators to HHP are paired with legacy facilitators.

Our largest program called Generations has two cycles annually. One cycle begins in August and ends in early December and the second begins in February and ends in May.

A typical Generations night entails the following:

5:15-5:45 p.m. - Facilitators arrive and meet with your peer group leader.

5:45-6:30 p.m. - Dinner is served to participants and facilitators.

6:30-7:45 p.m. - Participants and facilitators go to their age appropriate support group (Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Adult Groups). Age appropriate activities have been planned for each session.

7:45 p.m. - Say goodbye for the evening to our participants.

    7:50-8:15 p.m. - Facilitator debrief.

*Other programs such as HeartPrints and SOSL have a different timelines and schedules.

Facilitators may also volunteer for any other opportunities within The Hope & Healing Place. We hope you will consider joining the volunteer team at The Hope & Healing Place. If you have more questions about volunteering as a facilitator please call the Program and Facilitator Director at (806) 371-8998 ext. 4.

  • Hope Camp is a summer camp for kids incoming Kindergarten - 6th grades. It is an opportunity for kids who are grieving to spend time with other children who have experienced the death of a significant person and process what they are feeling.

Hope Camp Activity Leaders facilitate lessons, crafts, activities, and games from the HHP Hope Camp curriculum.

  • Each night begins with a meal before participants go to their support groups. We are grateful that local businesses, community organizations, church groups, etc. provide and serve meals to the program participants and volunteers.

For information about dates and times, please visit our MEALTRAIN.

  • All support groups at HHP are free of charge to the program participants, therefore, fundraisers play an important role.

Are you a go getter? Willing and able to solicit donations and make things happen? Willing to work the day of an event to ensure things run smoothly? See our Fundraising Events page to learn more or contact our Director of Communications & Fundraising at (806) 371-8998 Ext.3.

  • The birdhouses at The Hope & Healing Place represent the stories of all the Generations Family Support Group participants. We are always in need of individuals to build and donate birdhouses for our Generations participants.

  • Help us keep our Memory Garden a place our past participants want to continue to visit. If you enjoy gardening, we’ve got something for you to do!
