Grief Support Groups at The Hope & Healing Place are designed to give adults, children and families who are grieving a safe place to express their thoughts and feelings with others on a similar journey. All grief support groups are offered FREE of charge through the generosity of The Hope & Healing Place Supporters and Fundraising Partnerships.
Our Grief Model utilizes five stations of grief that involve the remembrance of our significant person, that moves from distress to restoration which includes: insight, understanding, compensation, compassion, and celebration. All program curriculums at HHP utilize this model as a foundation.
Each group has its own volunteer facilitators who guide the discussion and age-appropriate activities designed to help participants express their emotions constructively. Group activities might include drawing, painting, journaling, making crafts while sharing thoughts and feelings. Through creative play and art projects, the children are encouraged to share feelings they have been unable or unwilling to express.
Groups are overseen by our Clinical Advisor and Program Director and led by trained volunteer facilitators.
