Generations Session Outline
Session 1: Insight
Goal: Participants will have the opportunity to define grief and gain personal insight on the universality of grief through discussion and learning more about the HHP Grief Model and Wolfelt’s Six Reconciliation needs.
Session 2: Understanding
Goal: Participants will have the opportunity to gain understanding by exploring/expressing their own thoughts and feelings about their current grief from learning about grief in your family of origin.
Session 3: Understanding
Goal: Participants will have the opportunity to gain understanding by exploring/expressing their own thoughts and feelings by exploring their own gamut of feelings surrounding death and by understanding developmental issues for children as they relate to the death.
Session 4: Compensation
Goal: Participants will have the opportunity to compensate for the death by developing self-care routines and systems of support strategies.
Session 5: Compassion
Goal: Developing compassion with an understanding that holding onto bitterness or anger can inhibit our growth into restoration with emphasis on forgiving self and others.
Session 6: Compassion
Goal: Developing an awareness of compassion towards ourselves and others as a result of journeying in our grief as a part of a support group. This is the final full small group time together.
Session 7: Celebration
Goal: Family Birdhouse Painting Night.
Session 8: Celebration & Closure
Goal: Group evaluations and an opportunity to share about your families’ birdhouses and HHP experience and a very special closing ceremony.
